The Jamaican reggae artiste, Siccature Alcock, popularly known as Jah Cure, has denied media reports that he was arrested in Trinidad and Tobago over the weekend.
The artiste spent nearly four hours in jail in Trinidad after a High Court judge issued a warrant for his arrest for owing a show promoter nearly US$20,000.
The singer was released on Saturday night and allowed to perform at a show here after the US$19,993 that was owed to the promoter, had been paid.
But in a statement issued here, Jah Cure said negotiations had broken down with the promoter regarding a show and that he and members of his management team had accompanied the promoter to a nearby police station where the deposit was returned.
“The artiste was not arrested as reported by some media outlets and was able to fulfil his confirmed date at Guaracara Park on the same night. Jah Cure performed to over ten thousand people,” the release state
“Jah Cure wishes to thank all his Trinidad and Tobago fans who came out to support him and guarantees them that despite this incident he will return to the twin island republic. Jah Cure and his management team would also like to commend members of the Trinidad and Tobago police force for their professionalism in dealing with the matter,” the statement added.
Jah Cure is currently preparing for performances in St Kitts, Barbados and Grenada.
